Meet Trish Squire: SPECTRUM GLOBAL ARTS

Trish Squire

What makes full time study at Spectrum different to other training institutions?

“At Spectrum Global Arts, we believe training should prepare students for the reality of today's entertainment industry, not just the classroom. Our unique four-day training model allows students to immerse themselves in intensive industry-focused training while also providing valuable time to work professionally, attend auditions, pursue additional employment opportunities, focus on wellbeing, and develop the life skills required for a sustainable career in the arts.

What truly sets Spectrum apart is our personalised approach. We intentionally maintain smaller cohort sizes, allowing our students to be seen, supported and mentored as individuals. Every student has different strengths, aspirations and career goals, and our training reflects that. Our programs are designed to develop highly versatile performers through elite training in dance, musical theatre, singing, acting, commercial performance and industry preparation. Students are taught by current industry professionals who are actively working in the field, ensuring training remains relevant, current and connected to industry expectations.

Beyond technical excellence, we place a strong emphasis on confidence, professionalism, personal branding, self-promotion, resilience and career development. We are passionate about helping students discover who they are as artists while equipping them with the practical skills needed to navigate a constantly evolving global entertainment industry.

At Spectrum Global Arts, we don't just train performers—we help develop adaptable, employable and industry-ready artists prepared for long-term careers.”

What do you look for in an audition?

“When auditioning prospective students, we're looking for much more than technical ability alone. We seek individuals who demonstrate passion, commitment and a genuine desire to learn. Technical skill is important, but equally important is a student's attitude, work ethic, coachability and willingness to embrace challenges. We love performers who walk into the room with energy, authenticity and a strong sense of self. Charisma, stage presence and the ability to connect with an audience are qualities that cannot always be taught, and they often leave a lasting impression. We also look for versatility and potential. Some students arrive with exceptional technique, while others possess incredible performance qualities or untapped potential that simply needs the right environment to flourish.

Ultimately, we're searching for students who are ready to work hard, contribute positively to our community and embrace the journey of becoming a well-rounded performing artist.”

What skills and experience can students expect to leave a course at Spectrum with?

“Students graduate from Spectrum Global Arts with far more than performance skills. Throughout their training, they develop the technical excellence, versatility and adaptability required to succeed across multiple sectors of the entertainment industry. Whether pursuing careers in commercial dance, musical theatre, cruise ships, television, film, corporate entertainment, theme parks, teaching or creative entrepreneurship, our graduates leave equipped with a broad and highly transferable skill set.

Students receive ongoing mentorship from leading industry professionals, gaining firsthand insight into professional expectations, workplace standards and current industry trends. They also benefit from performance opportunities, industry networking, audition preparation, professional development workshops and real world experiences that bridge the gap between training and employment.

Graduates leave with increased confidence, professionalism, resilience, strong work ethics and an understanding of how to market themselves effectively as artists. Most importantly, they develop the ability to adapt, evolve and create opportunities for themselves in an increasingly competitive global industry.”

What types of opportunities do your alumni go on to secure?

“Over the past 19 years, Spectrum Global Arts graduates have gone on to build successful careers throughout Australia and across the globe.

Our alumni can be found performing in major musical theatre productions, on international cruise ships, in theme parks, television productions, feature films, commercial dance projects, corporate entertainment, cabaret productions and live events. Many have secured contracts with leading entertainment companies worldwide, while others have established successful careers as choreographers, educators, creative directors, studio owners and entrepreneurs.

Recent graduates and alumni have continued to secure opportunities with international cruise lines, major touring productions, theme parks and corporate entertainment contracts, reflecting the industry's ongoing demand for versatile performers who can sing, dance, act and adapt across multiple performance settings.

What makes us particularly proud is that our graduates are not defined by a single career pathway. Instead, they possess the skills, confidence and versatility to create sustainable careers that evolve alongside the industry itself.”
